Hi, I'm Lex! I'm a linguist and social scientist in the tech industry.

I’m a sociolinguist who spent much of my career studying how humans communicate with each other. Now I evaluate language technologies that humans use when we communicate through computers. I also love to be outdoors, and spend as much time as I can either diving underneath or paddling over the world's rivers, lakes, and oceans. I'm especially passionate about bioacoustics and communication between (and among) the many other species we share this planet with. This summer, you'll find me building hydrophones to drop into the water and hear what the fish are saying. Always excited to meet other linguists who are working outside of academia or curious about making the jump! 💬
